From Democracy to Demonocracy Part III

Gandhari's Curse:

For those of you who don't know, I have a theory about Laloo. Remember that part in the Mahabharatha where Gandhari curses Krishna because he dupes Duryodhana into being vulnerable to Bhima's mace blow to his thigh?

The story goes that, after losing all her other sons in battle, virtuous Gandhari wanted to make her eldest son Duryodhana invincible. She told Duryodhana to go to the river to bathe, and remove all his clothes and stand before her. Then, she would open her eyes for the first time in years. The power of her tapasya would make invincible whatever that first gaze fell upon. Krishna, catching wind of this plan, stops Duryodhana as he is walking back from the river. He teases - aren't you ashamed going before your mother like this as a grown man? Embarrassed, Duryodhana puts on his loincloth, so that Gandhari's gaze cannot protect his thighs. Furious, Gandhari utters a curse on Krishna - "Your entire Yadu clan will be destroyed.

And so, 5000 odd years later, we end up with Laloo Prasad Yadav...

It isn't just that Laloo's been convicted of scamming to the tune of hundreds of crores - and gotten out of prison, I might add by making his wife Chief Minister of Bihar and therefore in charge of his prosecution. It isn't just that -(this is open knowledge)- his party rules Bihar thru kidnapping, murdering looting and torture. It isn't just that he passes out notes to the public while campaigning. The problem is -(and this is really scary) he doesn't see anything wrong with it!

If this is what Sonia's Congress means by democracy, be afraid! Be very afraid!
