From Democracy to Demonocracy - Part I
Every few years, Sonia's party turns around and accuses the Opposition of being "afraid of democracy". Usually, it's in response to some objection to demagoguary on the part of her party or her allies.
Funny how they never think *they're* guilty of 'democracy-phobia' when the tables are turned. Like for instance when they rail about say, the Babri demolition or the Gujarat riots. I mean, neither of those things (as horrible as they were) could have happened if the *people* didn't want them to. Just as, say the dirty ministers Sonia cherishes so much couldn't have been elected to the Sabha except for the will of the *people*. But then, I suppose the last thing you expect from people who open their arms to corruption while extolling the importance of "rule of law" is consistency.
Either way, anyone who loves India has to wonder whatever became of us! Today, if you look at the power centers in our government, you find yourself getting - well, a little nervous. No - more than just a little nervous.
You know that moment in Star Wars where Princess Leia's kidnapped by Darth Vader and he makes her watch her home planet being incinerated by the Deathstar? Yeah - that kind of nervous.
to be continued...
